Rabbi Oren PostrelRabbi Postrel was ordained in 1993 by Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion in New York, after having received a Master of Arts in Hebrew Letters from Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion in Los Angeles, and a BA in the History of Arts from UC Berkeley. He was engaged by the Mouvement Juif Liberal de France in Paris immediately after ordination as an assistant rabbi where he ministered to young adult members and interfaith couples as well as serving on an international Beit Din for conversion candidates, advised youth, preached and led worship in French.

Other posts were at Congregation B’nai Israel in Kalamzoo, Michigan; The Jewish Home and Hospital in Bronx, New York where he was the Director of Religious Life; The Reutlinger Community for Jewish Living in Danville, CA as Rabbi and most recently at North Tahoe Hebrew Congregation in Tahoe Vista, CA as spiritual leader. He enriched that congregation with creative worship, inspiring teaching, greatly expanded programming and sensitive counseling. Rabbi Postrel is also the Founding President of Centro Cultural Primo Levi in North America where he served as consultant in the arts and corporate gift contributions from 1995-2005.

Rabbi Postrel, who plays the guitar, serves as music specialist at regional Shabbatonim and is on the faculty at URJ Camp Newman. He is a member of the Northern California Board of Rabbis, Pacific Association of Reform Rabbis, and Central Conference of American Rabbis. Rabbi Postrel’s passions are Jewish worship services with dynamic music and broad community inclusiveness; the elderly; and languages. He speaks fluent Italian, French, Hebrew and English. He is also an amateur naturalist and outdoor enthusiast and writes an online wine column entitled Wines and Spirit.
