Introduction

Shabbat is the highlight of the week at Congregation Beth Sholom. On this day of rest and reflection, our Congregation joins together for worship, learning, and to grow as individuals and as a community. Our diverse Shabbat programming reflects the richness of our community.

Kabbalat Shabbat

Our Congregation joins together for spirited worship as we welcome Shabbat as a community.  Kabbalat Shabbat services are held on Friday evenings and are followed by an Oneg Shabbat reception.

Shabbat Morning Services

We hold a lay-led traditional Shabbat morning service at 9:30 a.m. on the first Shabbat of each month. The service is led from Siddur Sim Sholom and includes melodies and prayers, a Torah service, followed by the Haftorah reading, and a Musaf service.  After the service, we enjoy a potluck dairy Kiddush.

All are invited to join this Minyan to rekindle memories, to learn, meditate and experience the joy of Shabbat.  Anyone who wishes to read Torah or Haftorah or to participate in leading the service should contact Betsy Strauss.

Family Shabbat

Young children ages 3 through 7 years and their families join with the Rabbi and Gordon Lustig in the sanctuary for a Shabbat program of holiday celebrations, puppets, songs, and a Shabbat story.  Also called "Tot Shabbat", it is held on the second Friday evening of each month at 6:30 P.M.
