Creating an ethical will is an intentional act which gives us a means to clarify our beliefs and consider what kind of legacy we want to pass on to our descendants, loved ones, and  community. Ethical wills are unlike traditional wills that transfer worldly possessions or living wills that indicate health care choices. They are documents that convey values, life lessons, personal reflections, and blessings. Learn about this tradition of creating a heartfelt statement about what matters most for future generations. 

Anne Grenn Saldinger is a consultant and founder of Looking Back for the Future (lookingbackforthefuture.com), helping people to create family legacy projects including memoirs, oral histories, and ethical wills. Anne’s belief in the power of personal stories grew out of her training as a clinical psychologist and oral historian. She is passionate about helping people capture their memories and insights for the benefit of themselves and future generations. 

Anne Grenn Saldinger, Ph. D. has been doing oral history interviews for over 15 years. Her belief in the power of personal stories grew out of her training as a social worker and clinical psychologist and her experience as the executive director of a community-based oral history project.
