We view B’nei Mitzvah not as a single event, but as a journey that begins the moment your child enters our Religious School. Starting in TK (Transitional Kindergarten), students build their foundation through Hebrew skills and weekly tefillah (prayer), gradually developing the tools and context they’ll need for this significant milestone.
The formal B’nei Mitzvah journey takes shape in 5th grade when families select their date. By 6th grade, students begin their focused study and dedicated one-on-one tutoring, developing their skills and confidence as they prepare to lead services and read from the Torah.
Beyond the Bimah
B’nei Mitzvah preparation at Congregation Beth Shalom encompasses more than learning prayers and Torah portions. Students explore their Jewish identity, deepen their understanding of Jewish practices and history, and engage with Jewish ethics. Through their personal Mitzvah project, each student discovers how they can make a meaningful impact in our world.
