At Congregation Beth Shalom, learning never stops. We offer a rich tapestry of educational opportunities that deepen Jewish understanding, spark discussions, and strengthen our connection to tradition and community. Our programs are designed to engage, challenge, and inspire, whether you’re new to Jewish learning or have been studying for years.
Dive into weekly Torah portions in these engaging, discussion-based sessions. Together with Rabbi Niles, we explore ancient texts through a modern lens, discovering how biblical wisdom speaks to contemporary life. No experience necessary – just bring your curiosity and questions!
Join us at our monthly book club gathering (typically the third Tuesday of each month) for a warm discussion in an inviting circle.

Your Write to Resilience
Join this guided wellness practice based on the science of expressive writing. The process of expressing our emotions through writing has long been shown to improve both physical and mental well-being. This is not a writing instruction class – there are no rules or requirements. Our writing will be sloppy, loose, and imperfect. Together we co-create a safe space to express our thoughts and feelings through words. For more information, contact Kathryn Goldman.
Throughout the year, Rabbi Niles leads thought-provoking seminars on:
Modern Jewish thought and philosophy
Jewish history and culture
Contemporary ethical issues through a Jewish lens
Current events affecting Jewish life
Choosing Judaism
For those exploring conversion, Rabbi Niles offers personalized guidance through Jewish tradition, practice, and thought. These one-on-one sessions provide a supportive environment for questions, discussion, and spiritual growth as you consider joining the Jewish people. Contact Rabbi Niles to learn more.
Adult B’nei Mitzvah Program
It’s never too late to celebrate this meaningful milestone. Under the skilled guidance of Beth Shalom member and teacher Anne Percelay, adults learn Hebrew, study Jewish texts, and explore Jewish traditions. The program culminates in a specially designed service that honors each participant’s unique journey. Contact our office to learn more.
