The Center of Jewish Life in the Napa Valley

Our Campus

While a synagogue’s true heart lies in its people and the community we build together, we’re proud of the beautiful spaces that help nurture these connections. Our campus serves as the center of Jewish life in Napa Valley, offering welcoming spaces for worship, learning, celebration, and connection – the activities that define Congregation Beth Shalom.

Welcome to Congregation Beth Shalom

Since the 1950s, our congregation has been the heart of Napa Valley’s Jewish community. In 2014, we moved into our beautiful new building, nestled in a quiet, tree-lined neighborhood just south of downtown Napa. Our modern synagogue combines warmth and elegance, creating an inviting space for both worship and community gathering.

Lucile Packard Lobby

Step through our doors into a light-filled welcome area where high ceilings and natural light create an immediate sense of openness. Our lobby serves as a gathering space, featuring rotating displays that celebrate Jewish history and culture. Here, members catch up with friends, greet one another, and learn about upcoming events.

The William and Hattie Shwarz Sanctuary

Our sanctuary balances traditional elements with contemporary design. Stunning art glass windows by internationally renowned artist Gordon Huether create a striking backdrop, while the ark and Ner Tamid (eternal flame) are modeled after those from our 1963 sanctuary. With its soaring ceilings, state-of-the-art sound system, and full-size projection screen, the sanctuary adapts seamlessly from services to larger community events.

Conrey Library

Housing over 2,000 volumes, our library is a treasure trove of Jewish learning and literature. The collection spans philosophy, lifecycle guides, holiday resources, and fiction for all ages. Our children’s section offers books that bring Jewish values, music, and humor to life for young readers. Beth Shalom members enjoy the convenience of self-checkout privileges, making it easy to explore the collection at their own pace.

Social Hall

Our versatile social hall is the center of many of our community gatherings. Complete with a full catering kitchen and flowing naturally into both our sanctuary and outdoor spaces, it’s perfectly designed for everything from intimate family celebrations to grand community events.

The adjacent patio, shaded by century-old oak trees, creates an enchanting setting for outdoor gatherings. Our Social Hall and Sanctuary are available for rent for meetings, weddings, birthdays, receptions, and other simchas. Beth Shalom members enjoy preferred rental rates for their special occasions. Contact our office to learn more about renting our facilities for your event.

Pool

Yes, we’re the shul with a pool! This unique feature of our campus offers members a refreshing gathering spot throughout the year. It’s more than just a place to swim — it’s where families connect and our community bonds in a casual, fun setting. Pool access is yet another perk of being a member at Beth Shalom.
