Ethnic Studies in the Public Schools-- What It Means for the Jewish Community with Dr. Michael Harris

Wednesday, December 7, 2022 13 Kislev 5783

7:30 PM - 8:30 PMCBS Sanctuary

Over the past few years, there has been controversy in California over the development of Ethnic Studies courses for high schools; the initial draft of the California Ethnic Studies Model Curriculum not only excluded Jews, but included content which itself had antisemitic elements. While the finalized state ESMC was significantly improved, local school districts are not bound to it and can develop their own. Come to this meeting to learn about the process for curriculum development, and how the local Jewish community can act to ensure that our public schools are not teaching antisemitic content.
