Service Guidelines

Dear friends,

It is more apparent with every passing day that the Delta variant is becoming increasingly more prevalent and hazardous to society. In light of the recent CDC and California guidelines about wearing masks indoors, we have decided along with our board to resume the wearing of masks at all services and programs at CBS, even for the fully vaccinated, until such time as it is safe to take them off again. We do this out of our concern for the health and well-being of our community, and in the spirit of the time-honored Jewish principle of pikuach nefesh, the protection of life.

We have a number of events coming up that will draw large numbers of people, including three b'nei mitzvah, religious school, and the High Holy Days, and many of those present will either be under 12 and unvaccinated or non-members whose vaccination status is unknown. With this we will also continue the suspension of any onegs or kiddish luncheons at this time.

Rabbi Goldstein, Gordon, b'nei mitzvah students, and all others called to the bimah will be allowed to take off their masks and will have a plexiglass partition separating them from the rest of the congregation. Services will continue to be online via our Congregation Beth Shalom Napa YouTube channel.

We thank you for your understanding, patience, and ongoing support.

Marc Samrick, CBS President
Rabbi Niles Goldstein
Lauren Kaplan, Synagogue Director

Thank you for reading and respecting our guidelines.
